Character. Sun Valley's signature gravel event, founded by ultra-endurance champion Rebecca Rusch. High altitude, exposed sagebrush terrain, real climbing, and a distance that suits committed amateur racers.

Conditions. Idaho late summer/early autumn: 15–25 °C at altitude, dry and dusty, cool mornings.

Lube plan

If you wax — ZFC-recommended path. High-altitude dry gravel is one of the best-case scenarios for wax performance. Single pre-event application handles it; no top-up bottle needed unless you're going very slowly.

If you're on oil — pragmatic equivalent. Dry conditions at altitude suit most oils well. Standard pre-event application, 160 km comfortably within single-application range in the dry season.
