Character. The flagship amateur road event in Spain. Thousands of cyclists, a 312 km loop that takes in Sa Calobra and the full Tramuntana range, then flats back across the island. 'Did you do the 312?' is the European amateur summer pub question.
Conditions. Late April / early May Mallorca: 15β22 Β°C, usually dry, wind off the coast. Cool morning start, warm middle, long flat sections where efficiency pays.
Lube plan
If you wax β ZFC-recommended path. 312 km is past most waxes' published real-world SAL on paper. Data-driven play: an endurance-blend immersive wax (Silca + Endurance Chip, Rex Black Diamond Plus RDS, or equivalent long-life blend) to push the window out, or a top-up oil in the jersey for the back half. In practice the better waxes on smooth dry tarmac often go the full distance on one coat β Mallorca's roads are the friendliest test case you'll find. Follow the published SAL conservatively if racing; accept a slightly dry final hour if not.
If you're on oil β pragmatic equivalent. 312 km does push the single-application life of most oils. Apply your usual the night before; carry a small bottle and top up at one of the back-half feed stops. No setup commitment to think about β you're already on oil, you just do another oil application mid-ride.
